Free Professional Development Opportunity for Educators

Smart Discipline’s Classroom Management Technique presented

Dr. Larry Koenig, a nationally recognized educator and author of the book, Smart Discipline, will be in Jackson on Monday, October 4, 2010, speaking to local educators about using his techniques for better classroom management with children ages four and up.

Held at the Belhaven University Center for the Arts, 835 Riverside Drive, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Smart Discipline for the Classroom seminar is available free of charge to local educators who register through their school’s principal. To register, teachers may list their names on their school’s letterhead and fax to Parents & Kids Magazine at 601-366-0966. Registered teachers will receive fun and informative materials in bags provided by event sponsors.

In addition to the free workshop, teachers may earn 0.5 continuing education units (CEUs).  To earn these CEUs, teachers will participate in the 1.5 hours of instruction provided by Dr. Koenig, and then complete the required homework assignment (a series of worksheet questions about the material covered) and submit it by the November 15, 2010, deadline along with a check of $10 to cover processing of the certificate, which will then be mailed to the teacher. 
Information about the CEUs, the assignment and the application procedure will be distributed at the event. No participant is required to complete the assignment. It is an option Parents & Kids Magazine and Belhaven University make available to those individuals needing CEUs for their professional development.

For parents on October 4, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Smart Discipline for Parents seminar will be presented at the Belhaven University Center for the Arts at 835 Riverside Drive. 
Tickets are $15.00 each or $25.00 per couple.
