Clinton Junior High gets $1,000 wellness grant
CLINTON — Clinton Junior High’s health and wellness efforts are getting a big boost from the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association.
The school was notified this month that it is receiving a $1,000 grant for the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. CJHS has used the FUTP60 program in recent years to promote healthy eating and exercise habits among its students.
“We’re excited about this grant,” said CJHS health council coordinator and teacher Bonnie Brown. “Many of our activities are student-led, and this grant will provide the resources for us to build on the great work of our students.”
The funding will be used to create a healthy eating plan, a physical activity plan, hold an event kick-off (including prizes and student incentives) and printed materials and other expenses.
“One of our school district’s top goals is to improve the health and wellness of our students and staff,” said CJHS Principal Anthony Goins. “Mrs. Brown is doing a great job getting the kids excited about healthy eating and exercise, and programs like Fuel Up to Play 60 make it fun for the kids.”
